My Adventures of Superman digital arc begins this Monday, Feb.17, with ensuing chapters releasing on Feb. 24 and March 3. The three-part story is titled “Only Son,” and I could not be more proud of how it turned out. The art is by Evan “Doc” Shaner, with color by Matthew Wilson, and it’s an absolutely gorgeous job.

In my mind’s eye, this is just what Superman, his supporting cast, and Metropolis are supposed to look like. I wrote the story with Doc’s art in mind, and thankfully everyone’s schedules matched up. Doc’s Superman and Clark and perfect, and I fell in love with his Lois. Write this down: Doc is going to be a big-time artist in this business.

I don’t want to reveal too much about the story, other than I tried to capture everything I love about Superman, both the human and superhuman aspects. Each 10-page chapter is 99 cents, and can be downloaded from the DC site, as well as Comixology:

One more note on an upcoming project. Dynamite Comics has announced a oversize one-shot by me and my buddy Matthew Dow Smith, The Shadow Over Innsmouth. The story places the classic pulp avenger in H.P. Lovecraft’s spooky setting, in a way that hopefully honors both concepts.

The Shadow is one of those itches I’ve always wanted to scratch, like Tarzan or The Phantom (both of which I’ve been fortunate enough to have written, though I’d love to do so again). I can’t think of a better collaborator than Matt for this kind of Shadowy tale. The one-shot is due in April.

Cheers,

Ron
