Super Mondays

My Adventures of Superman digital arc begins this Monday, Feb.17, with ensuing chapters releasing on Feb. 24 and March 3. The three-part story is titled “Only Son,” and I could not be more proud of how it turned out. The art is by Evan “Doc” Shaner, with color by Matthew Wilson, and it’s an absolutely gorgeous job.

In my mind’s eye, this is just what Superman, his supporting cast, and Metropolis are supposed to look like. I wrote the story with Doc’s art in mind, and thankfully everyone’s schedules matched up. Doc’s Superman and Clark and perfect, and I fell in love with his Lois. Write this down: Doc is going to be a big-time artist in this business.

I don’t want to reveal too much about the story, other than I tried to capture everything I love about Superman, both the human and superhuman aspects. Each 10-page chapter is 99 cents, and can be downloaded from the DC site, as well as Comixology:

One more note on an upcoming project. Dynamite Comics has announced a oversize one-shot by me and my buddy Matthew Dow Smith, The Shadow Over Innsmouth. The story places the classic pulp avenger in H.P. Lovecraft’s spooky setting, in a way that hopefully honors both concepts.

The Shadow is one of those itches I’ve always wanted to scratch, like Tarzan or The Phantom (both of which I’ve been fortunate enough to have written, though I’d love to do so again). I can’t think of a better collaborator than Matt for this kind of Shadowy tale. The one-shot is due in April.

Cheers,

Ron

And We’re Back! With Convention Updates

After some technical difficulties, the site is back up and running. Thanks for your patience while we straightened out the issues.

A few convention updates:

*Feb. 28-March 1: Great Lakes Comic Con in Detroit area. I’ll be appearing at this show with my buddies Darryl Banks and Tom Raney, along with Chris Claremont, Ryan Stegman and many others. Complete information here:

http://greatlakescomiccon.org/

*March 21-23: MegaCon in Orlando, FL, along with Dan Jurgens, Cully Hamner, Bart Sears and a lot more.

*April 25-27: C2E2 in Chicago, along with Athleta Comics, Israel Idonije and Bart Sears. Big things planned with Athleta Comics!

*May 3: Free Comic Book Day appearance, location to be announced soon.

*May 16-17: Dallas Comic Con, in support of a charity comic to benefit Pancreatic Cancer research. (Please note I will not be at the show Sunday, May 18.)

*June 15: Albany Comic Con, my “hometown” show, with a special event at the Tri-City ValleyCats baseball game the night before.

*Sept. 5-7: Baltimore Comic Con.

*Sept. 26-28: Alamo City Comic Con, San Antonio, TX.

There are a few other conventions that I’ve committed to, but which haven’t been announced yet. There are also a number of other con appearances that are in the discussion stage, and will be listed here once confirmed. I’ll likely attend San Diego Comic Con and New York Comic Con, but my public schedule for those shows will be pretty limited.

As always, at any of these shows I’ll have copies of the Ravine and Shinku TPBs with me, along with Ravine dragon prints and some other odds and ends. Hope to see you on the road this year.

Cheers,

Ron
